Spring Cleaning Time is here…..

Spring has sprung…March 20th was the first day of Spring, bring on the pollen, allergies, sneezing, blooming flowers, and college students flocking to our state.   Spring is also the time we think we should traditionally clean and get a fresh start after our ‘harsh’ winter.
At Aggressive, we support spring cleaning of your appliances….as much as our Service Department loves to visit you and your appliances, we will offer some suggestions to keep your investments running smoothly.

69f84b6f-289c-4e81-8d3a-41cdf9399790

I love the Dishwasher….the kitchen can be trashed, dirty dishes everywhere, and in minutes they are hidden away in the dishwasher and not seen until they are sparkly clean.   To keep your dishwasher as your best cleaning friend, try a few proactive maintenance moves so you can prevent dishpan hands.
–  Make sure the drain is clean, periodically check it and clean
out the food debris to keep it draining and running smoothly.
–  Place a cup filled with white vinegar on the top rack and run your dishwasher through a cycle on the hottest setting.
****  And remember, do NOT over-rinse your dishes the newer dishwashers need a certain amount of grease and grime in order to do their job.

 The Microwave
– Pour a cup of vinegar and a cup of water into a measuring cup
and place in your microwave, set timer for 5-10 minutes
on med-high setting and when time is up, carefully remove
container with an oven mitt.  Wipe down the interior with a wet
rag, steam from water and vinegar will loosen any spills or
splatters.

**** Vinegar….is a recurring theme, it will be your best friend,
buy it by the gallon.

The Oven
Newer ovens have wonderful self-cleaning modes, use your
owner’s manual, go online and follow the directions…yes,
sometimes we need to look at the directions…it will save you
money and time.

Please refer to a past blog on Self-Cleaning Ovens, if you don’t
want to click and open it….then, just trust us when we say do
NOT use oven cleaners, they will most likely damage the
interior of your oven during self-cleaning mode.
If you have an oven with a self-cleaning option, use it, and that
task is done.

 The Refrigerator
– Clean behind and under…sweep, vacuum, whatever it takes to
get rid of pet hair, dust, and anything responsible for
blocking airflow or getting the coils dirty.
– A simple cleaning to do is just empty the fridge, throw out
expired items, wipe down the shelves, check water filter and
see if need replacing or order and have on hand.

For any glass surfaces, use some rubbing alcohol….take a spray nozzle attachment, put on the bottle of alcohol and simply spray surfaces and wipe clean, this works best with a microfiber cloth….on Glass surfaces.
For Stainless surfaces we recommend an oil based cleaner.

The internet is full of great spring cleaning ideas….simple is best.

Outdoor Kitchens
Aggressive has a tech assigned to just cleaning grills….it is a
tough dirty job, call our Service Department 407-295-4489 or fill
out a service request online and get all the details to set up an
appointment and check this scary job off your list.  It will be
done correctly and efficiently while you and your
outdoor kitchen area stay clean…letting us do this will also
promote great harmony between those living in the home, no
dirty, greasy, sooty, clothes or shoes tracking through the
house.

Happy Spring….use these simple ideas and reminders to clean and maintain your appliances, common sense is always best, and call our Service Department for any repairs or maintenance appointments, then enjoy your kitchen.

Interview with a Dishwasher

Asko LogoAsko Logan 3What happens when you interview a fellow co-worker about their new Asko dishwasher? You get a lot of answers and some silly photo ops…..I put my glasses on for this one to get my “reporter” groove on…Asko Logan 5

Logan used to resort to a base model “other” brand that was noisy (you could hear the *squish*squish* of the water) and didn’t clean her dishes. It was bad, so bad that Quinn (pictured below in all his furry cuteness), her fur baby, helped out with the dishes. Asko Logan QuinnFast forward to about 6 months ago when Logan was the proud purchaser of a top-of-the-line Asko dishwasher and here is what she has to say from first hand experience…

Logan’s words:

“I put REALLY dirty dishes in there. I even put a casserole dish caked on with a dark berry cobbler and it came out CLEAN!!”

“My wine glasses come out streak free. I usually let them sit for a few days because I don’t have a full load right away.”

“I LOVE the silverware tray. I never use the silverware basket.”

“I don’t hear it. The little display window shows the time left. I also like that the design is simple, doesn’t have a name on the front, and doesn’t compete with other design elements in my kitchen.”

“Quinn likes to sit on the door when the dishwasher is open and sometimes ‘pre-wash’ the dishes. He is 10 lbs.” (It’s a good thing this dishwasher sanitizes the dishes!!!!!)

Asko Logan 4

The top of the line, D5656XXLHS model with a tubular handle has a MSRP of $2155, with the pro handle MSRP at $2210. Their base model starts at $979!!! Inside this stainless steel interior dishwasher sits a fully removal third utensil rack positioned in the center of the dishwasher. The WideClean zones offer more powerful wash action on pots, pans, and cobbler crusted Fiestaware. This model also has an interior light. And since Asko is the dishwasher line for the Subzero and Wolf family, you get a 2 year warranty AND amazing customer service. They also offer a 3 year warranty if it’s purchased and installed by us included as part of a full Subzero-Wolf package. Of course, we have this model and other Askos on the floor. We’d be happy to show them to you!Asko Logan 1

Something to Talk About

FOOD_CROISSANT_COFFEE_TRG_72815Pull up a chair and grab a fresh baked croissant with your coffee. The time has come again to seriously consider a Subzero-Wolf-Asko package. As of July 1st through March 31, 2017, they are running a promotion that can include $1000 back and/or Wolf Gourmet product options.

Subzero-WolfKitchen

Many consumers wonder if the cost of a premium appliance package is worth it. They also wonder if they can afford such luxuries. I’m here to tell you it’s possible and worth it. Investing extra money now will give you a fabulous chef’s kitchen that will last you for many years.

Subzero-WolfKitchen2

Refrigeration that lasts, cooking products that stand up to the toughest and gentlest recipes, cleaning products that take on anything you can whip up on their fine products, this is what you can have with a Subzero-Wolf-Asko kitchen. But they don’t stop there….how about a coffee system and microwave options (built-in, drop down doors, micro-drawers). Under-counter refrigeration and freezers offer you drawer options or door options. Wine storage in beautiful columns, or placed under your counter. Ice machines and outdoor products, the list goes on and on. You like modern and sleek? Professional and robust? Hidden behind decadent cabinetry? If you can dream it, the Subzero-Wolf-Asko line can bring it to life. This is a manufacturer that doesn’t quit and neither do their products.

One of their best kept secrets is how they treat their customers. You are premium. You are cared for. Their customer service is top notch and, to us, one of the best in the industry. They invest in you as you have invested in their products.

This is not a product line can be summed up in a small blog. A tour through our expanded Living Kitchen and details in person about their promotion are very much worth a trip to our showroom. Finish your coffee and croissant, and stop in. It’s time to wake up and realize this kitchen dream is within reach. We will show you how…

Fight Like a Viking

11873 1000_VIKING_PRAs a dealer we are invited to learn and cook on many manufacturer products. This week in my appliance adventures I flew into Georgia with healthy skepticism of the Viking product line.  Because I’m such an appliance geek, what I learned surprised and excited me. Viking keeps fighting…

Since being purchased in 2013 by Middleby Corporation, a leader in commercial kitchen technology, Viking has reinvented and revitalized their brand. Let me take you on a mini tour of how they’ve done that.

VikingCooktops2

Infrared broil technology in their electric ovens, and a carpet of broiling fire in their gas ovens, was really something to watch and use. The power of their induction elements and knob-controlled cooktops open up the market for those wanting more speed and/or have difficulty using electronic touch controls.

VikingBroiler

Learning the various ways to use a warming drawer for slow cooking recipes will make this a must have piece in any kitchen. They also offer the only combi-steam-bake-convection microwave on the market. But by far the most impressive of their commercial technology is due out on the market this year with the introduction of the Turbochef oven to the residential market.

TurboChef

Turbochef uses radiant heat, microwaves, and convection in a way that will take our fast pace cooking to a whole new level. It’s used daily in well known companies commercially to speed up cooking, crisping, and baking to minutes instead of hours. Baked potatoes, French fries, breads, meats, desserts, you name it…done in minutes. Imagine a whole meal cooked for a large crowd in 20 minutes. This is the future and the future is knocking hard and fast on our kitchen doors. Wait for it….

VikingCoke

Refrigeration in Viking has major changes (thankfully). The free-standing, counter-depth piece pictured above is the only piece made by another company….but since it was filled with Coke products….it deserved a picture here. Their built-in products have better hinges and the addition of their Ion Purification System called the “Plasmacluster System”. This type of purification is used in the medical field and the military to clean bacteria from the air and aid (in this situation) in food preservation. It doesn’t use a replacement filter because it’s not a filter. Their compressor design does not require cleaning because of the way it’s designed. They use metal shelving on the doors and tempered shelves on the interior. They offer a max cool in the freezer and refrigeration sections to bring quick cool to just packed refrigerators. The crisper drawers control and introduce humidity where it’s needed most. It’s worth checking out.VikingRef

They have taken the Blomberg dishwasher as their own and with it have combined some of the best features found in many leading dishwashers on the market today. They offer two dishwashers, one with a third rack. Their third rack machine doesn’t cover the entire top of the dishwasher. This helps to accommodate large stemware on the second shelf. All models offer a third wash arm in the top of the stainless steel tub. While not the quietest at 48 dBa, it does offer a final rinse cycle at 167 degrees and their longest cycle is about 2 hours. That high temp final rinse, along with the fan assist, will aid in condensation drying which has become an industry standard.VikingDishwasher

Viking has the ingenuity of design engineers from 67 commercial divisions of Middleby working to bring commercial cooking to a residential environment. Viking Pro offers 2 year warranty.

There is so much I can’t fit into this blog, but come in and let me tell you the story of any piece in their line. Viking is definitely a company worth watching closely to see what new ways our lives will change in the kitchen in months and years to come.

Proms & Dishwashers

Prom1It’s prom season. Teens everywhere are suiting and dolling up for this special event. So what do proms and teenagers have in common? If you are fortunate enough to have a teen that cleans up and helps out around the house, we might just help make their jobs easier. Let’s face it, it is hard to get kids to do any chores. Wouldn’t it be nice if one chore was easier to do but still got the job done?DishesPicNot all teens are meticulous cleaners. And if you have them doing the dishes, they may not always pay attention to how they are loading the dishwasher. With a new dishwasher you won’t have to worry if your teen pre-washed or pre-rinsed the dishes. Scraping any pieces off the plate and putting them in is the extent of the effort needed. Yes, they will look disgusting. Yes, you will doubt the dishes smeared with mashed potatoes and caked on cheese will get cleaned. Yes, you will be amazed at the end result. Dishwashers these days actually wash dishes. What a novel idea…dirty dishes3

Dishwashers have changed plenty over the years. Drying done by heating elements has almost disappeared, replaced with more energy efficient condensation drying methods. Loud? These days many dishwashers are so quiet an indicator light or displayed light within the door is included so you know the dishwasher is even running and/or off. They are THAT quiet. The clean factor is what really wows me. I’ve watched some really awful dishes go into current dishwashers and that come out squeaky clean. It’s really fun to experiment and put the most disgusting dishes in and still have them come out clean!dirty dishes2So if you can get your teen to help out, and even if you can’t, know that you could make dishwashing easier on everyone by upgrading to a new machine.

Woodland Creatures, Soap, and Water

Dishwashing

This morning as I unloaded my dishwasher I decided it may be my favorite appliance (closely tied with my range, refrigerator, microwave, washer, and dryer). Spending most of my young adulthood in New Jersey I was quite accustomed to doing dishes the old fashioned way….with a sponge and soap. Most of the homes where I lived didn’t have room for dishwashers without giving up valuable cabinet space. Many homes were older and smaller. Winter would come and my poor dishwashing hands would take a beating in that dry, cold weather.

dirty dishes

Since moving to Central Florida one of my favorite luxuries is my dishwasher. Florida is blessed with lots of newer construction and space so dishwashers are a staple in many homes and apartments. The chances of magical woodland creatures helping with housework are pretty slim even in Disney’s backyard, so I am quite grateful to modern engineering and design. They have provided indulgences such as being able to wake up to clean dishes in the morning while slumbering in dreamland overnight.

Bosch Dishwasher

There are a variety of live dishwashers on our showroom floor. Having experienced first hand how to load, unload, reconfigure, and use all the features on our floor models is a huge help in showing and explaining them to our clients.

BoschPocket

A personal favorite is the Bosch brand. Depending on the model, Bosch can offer an interior light, an indicator light on the floor showing it is running, energy efficient condensation drying, a half load option, a speed perfect cycle, a water softener, plenty of rack adjustability, and a third rack (a personal favorite) for those pieces you don’t want bouncing all over the machine. Being able to put lids, large utensils, ramekins, and small items in the third top rack really help with clean up of jobs large and small. They are also quiet, perfect for overnight washing!

Bosch3rdRack

I’m grateful for dishwashers. They allow more time for doing what I love…cooking, spending time with friends and family, or just being able to go to sleep and wake up to a set of clean dishes from the day before. Life is good!

In Living Color

TLK_4C_SMAn old show jingle used to play “Do what you want to do – in living color”. Do you remember it? Before your time? It came to mind to me today because if you know Aggressive, you know we do what we want to do and that usually means changing…..all the time.

LK1

Our latest change is in our Subzero-Wolf section aka “The Living Kitchen” and it is very close to completion. We have a few finishing touches along with a few holes to fill in….but this area of our showroom is fast becoming my favorite spot to wander through. It really showcases the beauty of Subzero, Wolf, and Asko lines.

LK5

I really love the way the Subzero wine storage column looks in its new home! The design elements selected really make the Wolf Pro 48″ range “pop” while the Asko dishwasher is set in a beautiful, cozy cove. The three brands come together with vivid textures and metallic finishes to truly showcase the beauty and quality of the appliances.

LK2

Our showroom always has surprises springing up. We’d love for you to stop by so you can touch, feel, and look at “The Living Kitchen” in living color….TileCropCV

More Than Words

gaggenau-logoGaggenau. I’ve mentioned the name a few times to a few people outside of my industry with looks of “Huh?” But those who know Gaggenau, know Gaggenau. This super premium brand, with exceptional quality and styling, is worth knowing about. The design, while not for everyone, may just be yours. If it is you’ll recognize it immediately. Gaggenau2 The sleek design, innovation, quality, and artistry of Gaggenau has always caught my eye. The attention to detail and craftsmanship in their built-in cooking products, refrigeration line, ventilation, and dishwashers are a true reflection of their premium status in the appliance industry. I could tell you that the ovens have doors that never get hotter than 65 degrees on the outside. I could tell you that their built-in cooktops have knobs that are integrated into countertops creating seamless countertop views. I could tell you that you can combine a variety of cooktops to create a custom cooking combination.Gaggenau2__1807_x_1357_-1438x1080 I could tell you how the refrigerators disappear in a kitchen but have stainless steel interiors, precision temperatures, and are the quietest in their class. I could tell you that BSH, the parent company of Gaggenau, Thermador, and Bosch, with Gaggenau being the top of their lines, produce their dishwashers. Yes, that kind of quality. Gaggenau1 But talking and telling rarely translate to the actual experience. Seeing the product, turning the knobs, feeling the weight and sturdiness of the doors, viewing the lighting, touching the materials used to manufacture their product, that’s when you know Gaggenau. There are some things that don’t require words. Gaggenau is one of them.

With a few pieces on display and a full kitchen to be completed by 4th quarter 2015, come in to our showroom and see that even one piece will tell you all you need to know without hearing a word.

DCS, ATK, Oh my!

DCSlogoDCS3

DCS by Fisher & Paykel has a quiet history since they don’t spend a ton of money on marketing; however, other well known names have used DCS in their lineups.  They began in 1988 in California when a commercial range was custom built for use in a residential application. Realizing they had a great product to offer to the masses they started selling their recipe for quality and function to companies such as Viking, Thermador, GE Monogram, and JennAir. Yup. You read that right. You didn’t even know you knew DCS, did you?DCSATK

DCS8

Last week I was whisked away to Boston, along with a crew of 9 equally appliance enthused (I’m not being sarcastic here, we love appliances that much!) sales reps from all over the USA, to take a few succulent bites into the world of DCS by Fisher & Paykel. To mix it up, we weren’t trained in a DCS facility, but in America’s Test Kitchen. ATK’s founder, Chris Kimball, has DCS in his personal kitchens, which prompted his natural choice of DCS appliances in ATK’s kitchens.

DCScrewREv

ATK’s home is tucked away in an old building in Boston complete with a maze of quirky turns, steps, food, and dining tables with a backdrop of old school, historic charm. We were graciously welcomed by ATK to cook, learn, laugh, and eat within their bustling cooking, testing, and tasting world. In this cozy setting we learned DCS is truly a powerhouse of quality, function, and is user friendly whether you’re a master chef, a weekend cooking warrior, or a 30 minute weeknight meal maker. Using ATK recipes, mouth watering, waist growing meals were created by us all while learning hands on just how fun and easy DCS is to use.

DCS1There’s something really remarkable about bonding over quality appliances and cooking with people that have an equivalent passion for appliances. DCS and ATK really set the table for a gracious, welcoming learning experience.

If you’re looking for meaty, commercial quality appliances without too many bells and whistles, DCS is the way to go. The DCS customer wants a tried and true, quality appliance with a minimal learning curve to get great results focused on highlighting the finished culinary masterpiece.

With professional ranges, commercial quality wall-ovens, precision cooktops, versatile dish drawers, searing outdoor grills, and a built-in line of refrigeration due out any minute, this is a line to consider if you want hard-working, solid appliances without a super premium price tag. We have their line on display, so please stop in. We’d love to get you fired up over them!

Tang You Very Much

Working within a family owned company the opportunity exists to really get to know the people that keep Aggressive running and vibrant. There are some pretty wise, colorful, and interesting personalities here! So when trying to compile some helpful tips on upping the clean-ability factor of a dishwasher, I naturally turned to our human appliance database of a team. Here are just two Tang-tastic tips to keeping your dishwasher running and vibrant.

It turns out that dishwashers can be degunked and get things to “SPAH-kuhl” (as my daughter would say) with Tang and white vinegar. So let’s say dishes aren’t coming out quite as shiny and clean as they used to…..there’s a way to fix that easily and cheaply and make a citrusy salad dressing with the leftovers! Okay the dressing might be a stretch. Tang has a high citric acid content that aids in cleaning the inside of a dishwasher. There are a variety of ways to do this varying from filling the soap dispenser with two table spoons of Tang, to dumping a small container of the stuff completely in the bottom of the dishwasher tub before running a cycle. Voilà! All cleaned up in there! As for white vinegar? Place a filled cup of vinegar face up on the top rack of the dishwasher.  Run the dishwasher. The cycle will wash into the cup and distribute the vinegar. Instant cleaning action! Give these two tips a try and let us know how they worked out for you in our comments section.

Special thanks to Doug and Buzz for sharing their brains by offering these tasty tidbits of dishwasher tips.
