Built Better to Last Longer

You can probably still hear the lingering fireworks from the person in your neighborhood that has decided to shoot off the final few leftovers in their arsenal.  Our 4th of July celebrations, American flags on display and everything red, white and blue just occurred in towns and cities all across America.  We Americans love to celebrate our country.

Let’s take a moment to celebrate some American made products from a company headquartered in Ripon, Wisconsin.  The Speed Queen washer and dryers are commercial quality units, the biggest difference between the commercial and residential units is the coin slot.

Speed Queen washers and dryers also carry a 5 year warranty, with a life expectancy of 25 years. This brand carries a reputation of being highly durable, having no frills and superior quality.   Please take a moment and watch the video below…..a real life commentary that speaks to the performance of Speed Queen.

Stop by the showroom and let our sales staff show you our display of Speed Queen laundry….we have an impressive display of laundry product including a variety of brands and price ranges, I am confident we can help you find the perfect match for you and all your laundry needs.

Cookies Make Everything Better !

It’s time for a great cookie recipe….trust me, this cookie is the most popular one with our staff and many of our customers.

It is the Compost Cookie….also a fancy word for garbage cookie, but the words compost and garbage aren’t what come to mind when you eat this cookie.

There is a basic dough recipe and the fun (compost) part is…you choose 3 savory and 3 sweet ingredients to add.   For example, you could add potato chips, pretzels, goldfish crackers, fritos, etc….or chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, raisins, cranberries, etc…your choice!

There is a cool place in NYC that made this cookie famous, Momofuku Milk Bar…recipes are all over the internet, but the one that our resident Chef Cheryl uses is this one,   Momofuku Milk Bar Cookies.

Click on the link and make some, let your kids help select the ingredients….the crazier the better, you just can’t beat that salty and sweet combo.  I mean, aren’t our favorite people a combo of sweet and salty, too?

Your friends and family will be so happy, and hopefully grateful, if you make these and actually decide to share them.
We even have a customer/Designer that loves them so much, I make him a goodie bag and let him know every time these cookies make an appearance in the showroom.
I won’t name any names…Mark.

Enjoy…..make some people happy and bake some cookies !

(…and if you need an awesome new oven to bake them in, come see us, we have the perfect oven for you)

We don’t actually sell machines that make heart shaped ice… but that would be awesome and we do love our ice !

At Aggressive, we carry a good variety of Ice Machines, not to be confused with the Ice Makers that live inside your freezer. Ice machines are under counter units, in our showroom we have the following brands(in alphabetical order) ~ GE Monogram, Kitchen-Aid, Manitowoc, Marvel, True, SubZero, Uline and Whirlpool. ….and even better, our machines are “live” so you can grab some cubes, and taste and sample while you shop.

The ice cubes produced by these machines have unique shapes, are actually quite beautiful, and several machines produce similar shaped cubes….each brand mentioned will be highlighted with a link to their respective websites for you to see specifications and a general idea of pricing.

Ice from Subzero and Manitowoc machines…clear, with no odor and clean taste due to excellent filtration system, have unique octagonal shape and melts slowly.

Ice from Scotsman Brilliance, GE Monogram and True clear ice machines… won’t clump or dilute drinks, also melts slowly and cools drinks quickly.

Ice from Kitchen-Aid, Jenn-Air , Whirlpool and Marvel…clear ice, water filtration system, shape takes up less room in your glass.

Ice from Uline ice machine…clean and clear, unique shape.

Nugget ice from Scotsman machine… compared to “Sonic” ice, soft and chewable and a favorite of our staff.

This is only a sampling of the ice machines available, our sales staff will help guide you to the best machine to fit your needs and your space.  It’s hot….stop by the showroom, sample some ice and discover which machine you can’t live without.

The Language of Appliances

The Language of Appliances…

French door isn’t just an option to replace sliding glass doors, Columns aren’t just an architectural element to hold up a ceiling, Built-In isn’t always a term used in building bookcases, Steam can be a type of  appliance, and not just what we see on the hot asphalt on a lovely muggy rainy Florida day…..

If you have been appliance shopping recently, you most likely heard a lot of new terms relating to appliances and their features and functions….and, if you are getting ready to be on the hunt for a new appliance, refer to this handy guide to help you with your shopping experience.   This is by no means a comprehensive list, but a few terms to get you started……

COOKING :

– A Range is a unit with either burners or a glass cooktop and an oven, they are made to slide in, or can be built in.
Induction is not new, but is getting more popular and is being offered by many brands.  Induction cooking heats a cooking vessel by magnetic induction, as opposed to heating from a flame or an electrical heating element.  Induction cooking requires pans/cooking vessels to contain a ferromagnetic metal.
Dual Fuel appliances use both electricity and gas.
Speed Cooking is a feature using Advantium technology to cook food through the power of light.  Radiant heat is produced by halogen bulbs above and below the food, adding a boost of microwave energy, cooking food quickly and evenly.
Cooktop/Rangetop is a stand alone cooking surface that does not include an oven, is installed in the countertop.

Steam Ovens basically cook with steam….shocking….typically there is a water reservoir and most also use Convection, a cooking method that circulates hot air around food to cook it faster than conventional ovens.
French Door wall ovens have 2 doors that open on a single oven, creating an ease of accessing the inside of oven without having to reach over the drop down door.
REFRIGERATION:
Built-In/Counter Depth refrigerators are the same depth as your counters so they sit flush.
Freestanding/Slide-In appliances simply slide in the space and they don’t require cabinet alterations.
French Door refrigerators have 2 doors and 1 drawer below containing the freezer.
French Door Refrigerator
Side by Side refrigerators have 2 doors, one side is refrigerator, other side is freezer.
Under Counter refrigeration applies to wine coolers, beverage centers, and ice makers that are made to fit under the counter.
Columns are freezer and refrigerator units that can be installed separately from each other.

Integrated appliances have panels installed on the front and disappear into the cabinetry.
