Whatcha Got Cooking?

bsh cREWThis week I was given the opportunity to fly to California for BSH immersion training. I’ve never been to California and haven’t been to an out-of-state product training in quite some time. I had no idea what to expect, who I’d meet, or how much I’d learn.

What I found in Cali was this…no matter where you go, or where people come from, good people are good people. The crew we had at this training was by far the best group of people I’ve ever had the pleasure of learning with. We laughed, we laughed harder, we cooked, we learned, and we made some really great friends that became more like family on this trip.

BSH 2There is something to be said for being able to cook on Bosch products surrounded by bright, funny, creative people. It also helps to have a professional chef explaining what to do. We used induction, gas, steam, convection, and learned all the different ways Bosch can really make a decadent meal fast, easy, fun, and exciting. The BSH group gave me the chance to try out one of my own family rice recipes to give me that final push to give up my aluminum pot and fully embrace induction cooking. My classmates enjoyed my dish (or they were just being kind) and I was sold on induction.

BSH 3We have many of these pieces on display at Aggressive. BSH provided us all with a steam cooking recipe book. I’m heading back to Florida today armed with a plan to try these recipes, along with my own, on our live appliances.

bsh 4I gained so much knowledge this week, but one of the most important things I took away from this trip was that there are great people that live all over the world, people that have so much to share and teach you, people passionate in their appliance geekiness and sillyness. I feel honored and privileged to have met them all. Special thanks to the BSH family for providing us this opportunity!!!

BSH Crew NightNow….come on down and let’s take my Bosch knowledge for a spin!!!! I’ll be steam/convecting goodies REAL soon…

Tang You Very Much

Working within a family owned company the opportunity exists to really get to know the people that keep Aggressive running and vibrant. There are some pretty wise, colorful, and interesting personalities here! So when trying to compile some helpful tips on upping the clean-ability factor of a dishwasher, I naturally turned to our human appliance database of a team. Here are just two Tang-tastic tips to keeping your dishwasher running and vibrant.

It turns out that dishwashers can be degunked and get things to “SPAH-kuhl” (as my daughter would say) with Tang and white vinegar. So let’s say dishes aren’t coming out quite as shiny and clean as they used to…..there’s a way to fix that easily and cheaply and make a citrusy salad dressing with the leftovers! Okay the dressing might be a stretch. Tang has a high citric acid content that aids in cleaning the inside of a dishwasher. There are a variety of ways to do this varying from filling the soap dispenser with two table spoons of Tang, to dumping a small container of the stuff completely in the bottom of the dishwasher tub before running a cycle. Voilà! All cleaned up in there! As for white vinegar? Place a filled cup of vinegar face up on the top rack of the dishwasher.  Run the dishwasher. The cycle will wash into the cup and distribute the vinegar. Instant cleaning action! Give these two tips a try and let us know how they worked out for you in our comments section.

Special thanks to Doug and Buzz for sharing their brains by offering these tasty tidbits of dishwasher tips.

35 Years & 3 Bird Babies

KD2ndBornNature decided to celebrate our 35th Anniversary week by gifting us three baby hatchlings. We’ve been celebrating all week and it kicked off on June 8th, 2015 when the two of the three baby killdeer we’ve been watching were born in our front garden area. Two were born on the 8th. The last one hatched on the night of the 9th. We didn’t get a picture of the last one….they move fast once they hatch! What a nice surprise for us to start off our anniversary week!

We were concerned because when they were born they weren’t moving much. By the afternoon the two babies were running around the parking lot, with their parents freaking out every time someone came near them….and of course everyone came near. We were like the paparazzi snapping the best shots we could of the new babies, Aggressive  Appliances’ version of the royal babies. They are so tiny and camouflaged perfectly within the mulch. It is amazing how the dad and mom bird threw themselves on the ground faking being injured to keep anyone and everyone away from their newly hatched offspring. We have all watched and fallen in love with these little ones.KillDeerBabyParentThe first morning the two that hatched were following mom or dad around our little retention pond. You’d never know they were just born. The 3rd hatchling finally arrived Tuesday night after all the cameras had been put away. We sure were happy they chose our place to start their little family. What a special treat for all of us who got to watch them every day and those who have visited us throughout the past weeks and noticed them.

Such sweet, tiny, fragile creatures that despite storms, people walking by, and generally a tough environment…survived. It was a privileged treat for all who came by to watch nature in action.  We’ve heard they tend to nest in the same area. So we will be looking out for our adopted family in the coming years. We wish them well on their life journey.

Totally 80s

CherylThe year was 1980. Funkytown was the #1 song on the Billboard charts. “STAR WARS: The Empire Strikes Back” was #1 in the theatres. The “Dukes of Hazzard”, “Alice”, “The Jeffersons”, “Dallas”, “MASH”, and “Three’s Company” were some of the top TV shows. We had just left the 70s and were about to enter a new, prosperous era of lace, spandex, animal print, fluorescent clothing, big hair, big make-up, and rock bands that were fronted by some of the prettiest men you’ll ever lay your eyes on. This is when Aggressive first surfed on it’s own “new wave” right onto the Orlando retail scene.

The nostalgia is flowing into our showroom for a reason. Aggressive opened its doors for the first time on June 13, 1980. I pulled some old photos and a newspaper ad from 1981 (pictured here) to give you a taste of the memories. We are fast approaching that 35th Anniversary date. It’s a pretty amazing thing! We’ve grown up together. We are incredibly blessed to have come so far.  We could not have achieved our level of success without the support of our Orlando family….YOU!  Thank YOU!AndyMaytag

To celebrate 35 years we will kick off the week before the actual day by celebrating every day starting June 8th culminating on our actual anniversary on June 13th. Stop in to see how we’ve changed through the years, sample a surprise treat without gagging yourself with a spoon, wear your 80s gear, and party it up with us!

And from the bottom of “totally awesome” hearts….

Thank You. Again and always.TeamAAggressive1stAggressiveShowroom2015
